Friendswood

Welcome to Friendswood signFounded by Quakers in 1895, Friendswood was built on traditional values, quality education, and family, creating a welcoming hometown atmosphere where neighbors know their neighbors.  Situated just three miles west of IH-45, the city of Friendswood is the halfway point between the busy city streets of Houston and the beachside community of Galveston.  Just a 30-minute drive will take you to theatres, museums, amusement parks, Hobby Airport, NASA, the beach, and major league sports of every variety.  Friendswood encompasses portions of both northern Galveston county and southern Harris county, divided by the waters of Clear Creek.  The same creek creates a dividing line between the two high performing school districts that serve Friendswood residents – Friendswood ISD and Clear Creek ISD.

Friendswood ISD embraces the heritage and character that this community was founded upon.  FISD was named 1 of 13 top high schools in the state of Texas, and 1 of the top 10 high schools in the Houston area.  With 2 elementary schools (K-2), 2 intermediate schools (3-5), 1 Junior High School, and 1 High School, all 6 campuses have earned the Texas Education Agency’s Exemplary rating as well as the overall district being named Exemplary.  In addition to academics, Friendswood High School (a class 6A School) is state competitive in a myriad of athletics and regularly receives awards for band, choir, and drama performances.  The district’s mission statement of Leading to Achieve Excellence is a reality for the students and staff.
